World Cancer Day collaboration
The Breast Health Foundation (BHF) in collaboration with The Kelvin Resident Association (KRA) joined hands to support children fighting cancer.
World Cancer Day 2024 was a heart-warming moment of unity in the face of cancer challenges. BHF in collaboration with KRA organised a special cancer awareness walk to support children fighting cancer at the paediatric oncology ward at the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (CMJAH).
The turnout was remarkable, with families, friends, and neighbours coming together to support these brave young patients. Instead of just walking, R14 000 was raised to provide essential items like toiletries, toys, and groceries. BHF, known for their tireless efforts in breast cancer awareness and support, made a significant contribution to this cause. Their decision to back the paediatric oncology ward highlights their unwavering dedication to make a difference in the lives of all affected by cancer.
This collective effort exemplified the spirit of World Cancer Day, rallying communities worldwide to Close the Care Gap. It was more than just a walk; it was a stride towards a future where every individual receives the care and support they deserve.Â
Together, the streets were painted with colours of hope, determination, and unwavering support, ensuring a world where cancer is no longer a feared adversary.
It didn’t stop there, the KRA social team, alongside BHF went the extra mile, assembling goody bags tailored to bring smiles to the faces of young warriors battling cancer. These acts of compassion and humanity, are the true essence of World Cancer Day.
As we reflect on the success of this year’s cancer awareness walk, let’s carry forward the spirit of unity and empathy. Let us continue to advocate for equitable cancer care, standing shoulder to shoulder with those in need. Together, we can pave the way for a brighter, cancer-free future.
To all who supported, donated, and participated, your contributions have left an indelible mark on the lives of those affected by cancer. You have brought light to the darkest of days, hope to the weary, and comfort to the afflicted. Your compassion knows no bounds, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
Together, we can, and together, we will. Thank you for being a beacon of hope in the fight against cancer.
