Devi Chetram (67), a widow, lives in Johannesburg, Gauteng. She has three adult children.
Breast cancer diagnosis
Devi was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer in 2007. She had multiple chemotherapy sessions before a mastectomy. “During my cancer treatment, I experienced fatigue, weakness, nausea, loss of appetite, and hair loss. Most days, I just wanted to stay in bed which made me feel like I was not myself. It took a lot of effort to get up and do my daily tasks and take care of my kids; my body just refused,” Devi explains.
Searching for a good supplement
Devi says she remembers being in a store and looking at various supplements that would assist her with energy and hopefully make her feel like herself again. “My biggest concern was I needed a supplement that wouldn’t interfere with the medication I was already on. My son was with me when we saw the Lifegain tins and gave one a read. I was impressed with what it had to offer in terms of nutrients and the assistance to get my energy back up again. So, I bought it,” Devi says.
“I took it daily during chemotherapy, especially when I felt my weakest. The taste definitely made it easier, taking into consideration that nausea was my biggest concern.”
The benefits
Devi only has praises for Lifegain Advanced Nutritional Supplement. She explains, “It made me feel like I could take on the day again. I had energy and was able to give my attention where it was needed. I didn’t want this illness or depression to take over my life, and I definitely felt like I could see to my kids needs at the time. Thankfully, I was able to keep myself going which helped me overcome the condition I was in and get me to my healthy self today.”
Unfortunately, Devi’s medical aid oncology benefit didn’t cover the cost at that time. Though, she says the difference it made in her life was worth every cent from her own pocket.
Helped in a time of grief
Devi adds that Lifegain even helped her through her grief after her husband passed on. “When my husband passed on, so did my appetite and my will to exercise and eat. Drinking Lifegain helped with my lack of appetite and slowly I began to manage every day better. Lifegain was there when my hubby couldn’t be, and I know somehow this is the kind of heavenly sent gift I needed in my life,” she says.
Part of daily diet
After many years of being cancer free, Devi still uses Lifegain Advanced Nutritional Supplement today. “At 67, I’m now a grandmother and I have so much going on in life. Lifegain still gives me that extra boost that I need to start my day. I spend quality time with my kids and grandkids, have an amazing social life with my friends at various senior citizen clubs, and I keep myself fit with gym workouts to keep my body moving. With all that, Lifegain helps me when I get tired and helps my body recover as well, providing those nutrients that my body sometimes doesn’t get. My mind is sharper, and this definitely boosts my mood as well, making me feel great as well as giving life my all.”
