Knitted Knockers

The Wits students of the Division of Human Genetics, in collaboration with The Yarn Tree, are aiming to donate 1 000 pairs of Knitted Knockers this Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

What are Knitted Knockers?

Knitted Knockers are knitted or crocheted prosthetic breasts that can be used by breast cancer patients who have had to undergo a uni or bilateral mastectomy. They can be inserted into a bra to allow women to feel more confident about their appearance.

How can you help?

Individuals who wish to donate to this cause can either knit or crochet a pair of Knitted Knockers. Kits cost R50.

For those who aren’t proficient at knitting or crocheting, money can be donated. All money donated will go to The Yarn Tree to facilitate the knitting of the prosthetic breasts.

Should you wish to purchase a kit or donate:
